Franck Rockatansky's portrait

Franck lent himself to the game of portraits, here are some answers to our questions ...

Since when do you evolve in music?

Franck :
I started late around 2009. Since I was always a music lover, I was always sensitive to the bass that I had discovered through a Pink Floyd live show during their Delicate Sound of thunder tour, and more particularly the bass solo played by Guy Pratt on Money. But I had often told myself at that time that I wouldn't be able to play any instrument whatsoever. Then in the 90's, I met a co-worker who was a bass player in a local amateur band. We talked a lot about music and the instrument, and he even lent me one of his basses. A few weeks later I bought my first bass and started practicing on my own by playing on CDs. There wasn't the same accessibility to tablature as there is today with the internet, and I had never really evolved at that time. The following years, things of the life being, I had completely forsaken the instrument. It is in 2008 that I started to play seriously again, at the rate of one hour per day and with the ambition to integrate a formation. This was done a few weeks later: The WILD NOTE: 4 members, guitarist, drummer, bass player and a spectacular singer. Except for our singer, we were all relative beginners, and with hindsight, we were doing what I would call rough rock!

What are your musical influences?

Franck :
Like many, my influences are very eclectic: Of course Pink Floyd which for me remains the greatest band in the world, Red Hot Chili Peppers for the reasons you can imagine, AC DC, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Eric Clapton, the Doors, the Beatles and more particularly Georges Harrisson etc... in short, all these mythical artists of the international rock scene. I also like Jamiroquaï, Stevie Wonder, Georges Michael, Sting or Keziah Jones. I also listen to a lot of French artists, like Véronique Sanson, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Francis Cabrel, Yodelice and even Remy Bricka, of whom I'm thinking of creating a tribute... but I miss the rabbit and the pigeon!

Have you already recorded an album or an EP?

Franck :
No, never! Obviously, I remain a cover musician and live! The stage is my playground.

RdvROCK
Which song fits you best?

Franck :
Wow! uh....hum... I don't know... obviously, I'll think about a Pink Floyd track, probably Echoes which, in its structure, (each one will be able to interpret it in his own way) evokes the chronology of a life, by a very progressive and soft intro evoking the childhood, then rising crescendo imaging a turbulent adolescence, and this very "dark" part to which I identify myself by a long period of my life that I lived as in a long tunnel without light at its end. Then, the soft and progressive return to the melody and the theme of Echoes, which finally remains the most important in this title, as a return to life, to light and to love.

RdvROCK
Which artist would you like to share the stage with?

Franck :
So, it depends if you are talking about a famous artist or a local artist? If in doubt I would answer both: If it was an internationally known artist I would of course say David Gilmour, and if it was a local artist...arfff..there are so many, .... I must admit that I would be very honored to share the stage with Krees Moretti and the FOX.

What are your other passions or interests besides music?

Franck :
I am passionate about cars, and more particularly about youngtimers. These sports cars from the 70s and 80s. Moreover, I am quite proud to have been able to realize a childhood dream and to have acquired a 1987 BMW M3 about ten years ago. It's an old lady that I take care of today and that needs a lot of care. Besides, I nicknamed her "Sue Helen", because she is capricious, and she drinks a lot!

RdvROCK
If you could only keep 3 albums among all the ones you own, which ones would you keep?

Franck :
Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle and The Pros and cons of hitchhiking

RdvROCK
What is the unmentionable song you sing in your shower?

Franck :
Captain Flam!
