Grace (Grace Bee)'s portrait

Grace lent himself to the game of portraits, here are some answers to our questions ...

Since when do you evolve in music?

Grace :
Growing up, I always heard music at home. Classical music and pop from my parents' time, a lot of rock and funk that I shared with my sister, and tapes of Iron Maiden and other metal bands that I would discreetly retrieve from my brother's drawers to listen to on the sly. I always loved to sing, imitating my idols, and making up melodies during long car rides. I still have these great memories of recreating the set of the Synchronicity 2 (The Police) video in my room, I thought I was Sting! (Laughs). At the age of 14, I wished my first guitar, which I desired during 1 year before making my first scales on it. Then at 18 I discovered the joys of sharing the stage with a symphonic metal band. Later on I took a break, playing acoustic from time to time for a few covers and then music called me so strongly that I came back to it, with the desire of new experiences. I was offered a bass, took a few lessons at a great school which led to meeting the drummer of the band we founded together, First Class. Since then, I've been a bass player, singer and songwriter, sharing the stage with my two bandmates.

What are your musical influences?

Grace :
The rock of my childhood (The Police, U2, Iton Maiden...) to which I added all my discoveries (Metallica, Linkin Park, Queen, RHCP, the so british rock of Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand, etc.). Metal has a definite influence in my compositions (Nightwish, Kamelot, Evergrey, Symphony X, 36 crazyfists, Mass Hysteria...) and everything I listen to, from pop to funk and hip-hop.

RdvROCK
Have you already recorded an album or an EP?

Grace :
First Class and I were lucky enough to record our first single, October Ghosts. I had this song in my head for a long time and to see it blossom in all the stages of the single release was a real joy. Today we are preparing an EP, this is the next step of the adventure...

RdvROCK
Which song fits you best?

Grace :
I have always been very touched by the lyrics of the musical Starmania, and in particular the title "SOS d'un terrien en détresse".
In a more rock register, since we speak about it since the beginning, "Show must go on". Queen.

RdvROCK
Which artist would you like to share the stage with?

Grace :
To stay in the theme, Freddy Mercury. And for the positivity he gives off, groove a little with Yannick Noah!

RdvROCK
What are your other passions or interests besides music?

Grace :
I have always been passionate about animals and now many of them share my life (laughs). I also do a lot of snorkeling, it is an environment where I feel good.

RdvROCK
If you could only keep 3 albums among all the ones you own, which ones would you keep?

Grace :
The Police - Synchronicity
U2 - The Best Of 1980-1990
Muse - Origin of Symmetry

RdvROCK
What is the unmentionable song you sing in your shower?

Grace :
My heart will go on - Celine Dion (and I don't have the voice for it)

RdvROCK
Define, in 3 words, what music means to you

Grace :
Sharing, passion, life
