Inès (Happy Ness)'s portrait

Inès lent himself to the game of portraits, here are some answers to our questions ...

RdvROCK
Since when do you evolve in music?

Inès :
I grew up in a music-loving family who first introduced me to classical music at a young age and then my musical tastes expanded greatly. I have always needed to listen to music and it is a real pleasure when I am introduced to new things. As a child I started with the piano, then later the guitar and finally the bass, all essentially self-taught. Creation was a natural extension and, once I pushed the doors, I realized that there was a universe of infinite possibilities to express oneself. It doesn't matter what level you're at, it doesn't matter what your background is, you don't have to limit yourself in terms of style, just let your creativity flow. What I love about Riff Tonic when we compose is that everyone is free to compose any instrument, we don't have a defined role in the creation phase. For example I often propose guitar melodies or synth arrangements. But I'm getting lost! :)

RdvROCK
What are your musical influences?

Inès :
They are very diversified ! But I still have a clear preference for alternative rock, some metal trends and especially trip hop.

RdvROCK
Have you already recorded an album or an EP?

Inès :
With Riff Tonic we released a single in 2019, then an EP called "Andromeda" in 2020.
Currently we have a large stock of songs in the closets, the hardest part will be to choose them! Ideally we would like to release an album in 2021.
We are also working on another project (except Riff Tonic), but for the moment I can't say more...! :)

RdvROCK
Which song fits you best?

Inès :
Difficult question, I could give a different answer every day! Today I would say:
"Where I End And You Begin" (Radiohead).
"Riding In Squares" (Archive).
"Hollow Crown" (Architects).
"These Days" (Foo Fighters).
"In Your Room" (Depeche Mode).
And more recently I discovered the band Nothing But Thieves, their track "Afterlife" touches me particularly. In short I can't choose !

RdvROCK
Which artist would you like to share the stage with?

Inès :
The road is still long with Riff Tonic and I hope we'll do some great shows, of all sizes. But if one day we had the opportunity to share a beer backstage with a Trent Reznor or a Dave Grohl, it would make great memories (we have the right to dream) ! :)

RdvROCK
What are your other passions or interests besides music?

Inès :
Human taxidermy (didn't I show you my basement?) ^^
No, I'm a gamer (on Sundays) and a movie lover (on Mondays).
In fact this question makes me realize that music occupies 90% of my free time! Is it serious doc ? :)

RdvROCK
If you could only keep 3 albums among all the ones you own, which ones would you keep?

Inès :
RdvROCK your questions are terrible!!! :)
"Controlling Crowds" (Archive).
"Sleeping With Ghosts" (Placebo).
"Mezzanine" (Massive Attack).

RdvROCK
What is the unmentionable song you sing in your shower?

Inès :
"You" by Ten Sharp (uncontrollable wiggle "on")! But it's a really nice song actually :)

RdvROCK
Define, in 3 words, what music means to you

Inès :
Hope, Adventure, Joy
