Sol Hellfire's portrait

Sol Hellfire lent himself to the game of portraits, here are some answers to our questions ...

RdvROCK
Since when do you evolve in music?

Sol Hellfire :
I started playing music with the guitar in 1992, did some rare concerts, but I'm active in various bands since 1998. I started playing bass a few years ago, in a band that would later become Marie Antoinette, as the line-up changed.

RdvROCK
What are your musical influences?

Sol Hellfire :
They are very diverse and varied, I listen as much to the French song (Brel, Brassens, Dutronc....), also, of the rather old Rock, (Jefferson Airplane, Dio, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Who...), the great classics (AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica...), but also of the prog (Yes, King Crimson, Ange...), of the more bizarre (Magma...), quite a lot of KrautRock, which is German psychedelic rock of the years of the past. ), but also some prog (Yes, King Crimson, Ange...), some more weird (Magma...), a lot of KrautRock, which is German psychedelic rock from the 70's-early 80's (Amon Düül II, Agitation Free...), also some more energetic, some metal without going too far...

There are also blues and jazz, which, if they appear more than rarely in my playlist, are part of my influences, following my musical training at the conservatory.

RdvROCK
Have you already recorded an album or an EP?

Sol Hellfire :
The recording of an E.P., an album, or a demo, is an obligatory passage for the local scene, in order to present its works to the public and especially to the professionals, in order to approach rooms and festivals. I have of course done this exercise, with some of my previous bands: YiaDa, The Refugees, Enky & the What, Alain Lejeune, Marie Antoinette (Lose your Head, The Second Wave, Fantasy World & Paper Crown).

RdvROCK
Which song fits you best?

Sol Hellfire :
It's a very complicated question. Moods change, states of mind too, and an aggressive and energetic song can suit me one day, and a melancholic song can another day...Let's say it oscillates between Rammstein and Radiohead... :-)

A track I never get tired of hearing, which is simple and effective : Gauge Away by the Pixies.

RdvROCK
Which artist would you like to share the stage with?

Sol Hellfire :
I already had the chance to share the stage with Joe Satriani, Ange and Patrick Rondat... But I wouldn't mind opening for Rammstein...

RdvROCK
What are your other passions or interests besides music?

Sol Hellfire :
Music is a very time consuming passion, but when I'm not playing music, and apart from enjoying my family, my other passion also revolves around the same universe.
In my spare time, I restore old microphones from the 40's and 50's, I also build effects pedals for guitars and basses (from kits, electronics and case painting), and utilities for my pedalboards.

RdvROCK
If you could only keep 3 albums among all the ones you own, which ones would you keep?

Sol Hellfire :
The Who - Tommy
Amon Dull II - Hijack
Nativity in Black (1&2) - Tribute to Black Sabbath

RdvROCK
What is the unmentionable song you sing in your shower?

Sol Hellfire :
Right now, it's Hypa Hypa from eskimo callboy. I assume.

RdvROCK
Define, in 3 words, what music means to you

Sol Hellfire :
In two words: almost everything
